Abstract

This study aims to develop and describe an interactive e-module based on the Problem-Based Learning model for eighth-grade students’ mathematical literacy in the topic of straight-line equations, meeting the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This research and development study employed the ADDIE model, consisting of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects were 30 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 16 Yogyakarta. The instruments included validation sheets, a lesson implementation observation sheet, practicality questionnaires for teachers and students, and a mathematical literacy test. The results showed that the e-module applied the Problem-Based Learning syntax, integrated digital platforms, and supported students’ mathematical literacy. The e-module was valid, with scores of 69 from the material expert and 102 from the media expert. It was practical, with scores of 85 from the teacher, 69.86 from students, and 94.92% for lesson implementation. The e-module was also effective based on Hotelling’s T² test, one-sample t-test, proportion test, and N-Gain analysis. The e-module can serve as an alternative technology-based instructional material for teaching straight-line equations and supporting students’ mathematical literacy.
