Analisis Kesalahan Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel Ditinjau dari Gaya Kognitif pada Siswa Kelas VIII

Abstract
This study aims to describe the types of student errors in solving two-variable linear equation system story problems in grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Narmada for the 2023/2024 school year in terms of cognitive style. Error analysis is carried out on the basis of Newman stages. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The instruments used in this study were SPLDV test questions and student interview guidelines. Interviews are conducted with the aim of obtaining direct information about students' ability to solve problems and to strengthen the data that has been obtained. The subjects in this study were class VIII.7, as many as 34 students, with a total of 17 field independent (FI) students and 17 field dependent (FD) students. The subjects taken from each cognitive style were 2 students each to be interviewed. The results showed that students with FI style made mistakes at the stage of process skills and writing final answers (encoding). The factors that cause FI students to make mistakes are wanting to solve questions quickly, in a hurry, not being careful in doing the questions, and not being careful in operations. While students with FD style make mistakes at the stages of comprehension, transformation, process skills and writing final answers (encoding). The factors that cause FD students to make mistakes are assuming that writing what is known and asked will waste time, lack of accuracy, rush, do not understand the material, are not used to writing conclusions, and teacher learning methods that are difficult to accept.
