Abstract

Various efforts have been made by teachers in the learning process at school, but the results achieved are still not optimal. Therefore, innovation is needed in classroom learning methods, one of which is through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the application of the Problem Based Learning model can improve math learning outcomes and how the stages of its application in the learning process. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) conducted in class X.5 SMA Negeri 3 Mataram in the 2024/2025 academic year. The focus of this research is on improving math learning outcomes in the material of trigonometric comparisons in right triangles. The research was conducted in two cycles which included the stages of initial reflection, action planning, implementation, observation / data collection, and reflection. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and written tests, with instruments in the form of observation sheets and description questions. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that: (1) The application of the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes on the material of trigonometric comparisons in right triangles, and (2) There are systematic steps in the application of the PBL model that are effective in improving the mathematics learning outcomes of students in class X.5 SMA Negeri 3 Mataram in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year.
