Abstract
Drug and psychotropic substance abuse remains a public health problem, particularly among the productive age group. Youths are at a high risk of substance abuse due to curiosity, environmental influences, and easy access to illicit substances. Screening using an immunoassay-based Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) is a fast, practical, and easy-to-use method for detecting the presence of narcotic and psychotropic substances in urine as an early detection effort. This study aimed to describe the screening results of narcotic and psychotropic substance abuse among youths in X Village, Kesesi District, Pekalongan Regency. This study employed a descriptive qualitative research design involving 25 youth participants aged 18–25 years who were selected using a Simple Random Sampling technique. Urine samples were examined using a Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) with six parameters, namely amphetamine (AMP), morphine (MOP), marijuana (THC), methamphetamine (MET), cocaine (COC), and benzodiazepines (BZO).Data were analyzed descriptively and presented as frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that 18 respondents (72%) tested negative, while 7 respondents (28%) tested positive for amphetamine (AMP) and methamphetamine (MET). No positive results were found for morphine (MOP), marijuana (THC), cocaine (COC), or benzodiazepines (BZO). These findings indicate that most respondents were not identified as abusing narcotic or psychotropic substances; however, a proportion of respondents were indicated to have used stimulant-type substances.
