Abstract
Vegetable farming areas serve as agroecosystems that provide habitats for various arthropod groups with distinct ecological functions. This study aimed to analyze habitat characteristics and arthropod visitation patterns in vegetable farming areas in Waiheru, Ambon, using the Rapid Biodiversity Assessment (RBA) approach. The research was conducted from May to July 2026, employing the RBA method with visual observation techniques. Observations were carried out over 15-minute intervals across five plots during four time periods: morning (2 periods), midday (1 periods), and afternoon (1 periods). The results showed an air temperature of 29.44°C ± 2.09, air humidity of 74.44% ± 8.25, and light intensity of 69.90 lux ± 9.22. Arthropod abundance ranged from 838 to 1,241 individuals, with a density of 9.311 to 13.79 individuals/m². Family richness fell into the low-to-moderate category (3.2287–3.8627), Shannon-Wiener diversity was in the moderate category (H' = 1.3523–1.6413), evenness was moderate (E = 0.4255–0.4979), and Simpson dominance was low (D = 0.3093–0.3841). Functional groups were dominated by predators (50.523–61.588%), followed by herbivores (34.657–47.085%). The natural enemy-to-pest ratio ranged from 1.079:1 to 1.777:1, indicating a higher proportion of natural enemies compared to herbivores. Peak arthropod visitation activity occurred at period II between 09:00 and 10:00, accounting for 30.114% of total visits. The results indicate that vegetable farming areas in Waiheru harbor an arthropod community characterized by moderate diversity, low dominance, and a relatively high proportion of predators, with peak visitation activity occurring from morning to midday
