Abstract
Post-fire areas in Harapan Forest have potential for the development of non-timber forest products (NTFPs), but their utilization needs to consider biophysical conditions and land Suitability. This study aimed to evaluate the biophysical characteristics, land capability, land availability, and land Suitability, as well as to determine potential NTFP species for development in post-fire areas of the production zone of Harapan Forest. The study was conducted at eight observation points using a field survey method. The observed parameters included soil pH, soil texture, soil moisture, air temperature, air humidity, light intensity, rainfall, and vegetation. Land Suitability was evaluated using the matching method by comparing land characteristics with the growth requirements of selected NTFP species. The results showed that the land had a soil pH ranging from 3.8 to 6.9, Silty clay loam, soil moisture of 45%–75%, air temperature of 32–33 °C, air humidity of 73–78%, light intensity of 8.671 lux–70.123 lux, and annual rainfall of 3,037.2 mm. The land Suitability assessment indicated that cempedak and duku were suitable across all eight land units, while durian, jackfruit, stink bean, rambutan, and soursop were suitable in several land units. Avocado, longan, and mango were not recommended based on the matching results. Therefore, cempedak and duku were identified as the most potential NTFP species to be prioritized for development in the post-fire areas of Harapan Forest.
