Abstract
The internship at PT Restorasi Ekosistem Indonesia (PT REKI) provided direct experience in forest management based on ecosystem restoration, conservation, and community empowerment. One of the specific activities carried out was an inventory of the potential of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) in the Hutan Harapan forest area. This activity aimed to identify plant species with potential as NTFPs, determine their utilization groups and conservation status, and analyze the diversity of plant species found. Data collection was conducted through pre-survey, field survey, and post-survey stages. Field data were collected using purposive sampling, while plot locations were determined using systematic sampling, consisting of 15 plots measuring 50 × 50 m across 15 observation grids. Plant species were identified based on relevant literature and secondary data from PT REKI and were subsequently analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index. The inventory identified 37 plant species belonging to 21 families with potential as NTFPs. The main utilization groups included medicinal plants, food plants, and plants producing latex or resin. A total of 35 species were classified as Least Concern (LC), while two species were classified as Vulnerable (VU), namely Agathis dammara and Eusideroxylon zwageri. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index was 2.499467, indicating a moderate level of species diversity. These findings demonstrate that Hutan Harapan has considerable NTFP plant diversity that can support ecological functions while also providing opportunities for sustainable utilization by surrounding communitie.
