Abstract
Malignant solid tumors are important causes of morbidity and mortality in children, particularly in developing countries. This study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics, nutritional status, and factors associated with outcomes among pediatric patients with malignant solid tumors at West Nusa Tenggara Provincial General Hospital. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted among 70 patients aged 0–18 years treated from April 2024 to December 2025. Data on demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, nutritional status, treatment, and outcomes (alive/dead) were collected and analyzed using Chi-square, Fisher’s exact, and Mann–Whitney tests. Nephroblastoma was the most common tumor type (15.7%). Most patients were aged 1–5 years (35.7%) and male (54.3%). The most frequent clinical manifestations were masses or lumps (67.1%) and pain (51.4%), with abdominal masses being the most common specific manifestation (28.6%). Most patients received treatment (84.3%), predominantly monotherapy (38.6%). Outcomes were equally distributed between alive and dead patients (50.0% each). Demographic characteristics, clinical manifestations, and nutritional status were not significantly associated with outcomes (p>0.05), whereas treatment status was significantly associated with outcomes (p=0.003). These findings highlight diverse clinical profiles and indicate that treatment status was associated with patient outcomes, although causality cannot be inferred..
