Eksplorasi Etnomatematika pada Aktivitas Berladang Masyarakat di Desa Rehak Nusa Tenggara Timur

Abstract
Abstrak Farming activities cultivate land for planting cassava, corn, rice, etc., without being irrigated. Over time, farming activities then developed into activities that cultivate fields not only on dry land but also on wetlands or irrigated land. This study aims to describe mathematics in community farming activities in Rehak Village, Welak District, West Manggarai Regency, and to develop learning tools according to the mathematical concepts found. This research was conducted in Rehak Village, Welak District, West Manggarai Regency, from January 16 to June 10, 2023, with four informants. Explorative qualitative research with an ethnographic design was used. The main instrument is the researcher, whose role is to collect data through interviews, observations, and documentation. A data validity test was carried out using source triangulation. The data were identified and analyzed using ethnomathematics characteristics, which were then linked to the concept of school mathematics learning and developed into mathematics learning tools. The results of this study indicate that there are ethnomathematics in community farming activities in Rehak Village, Welak District, and West Manggarai Regency in the form of counting, measuring, localizing, designing, and explaining. The mathematical concepts obtained based on these five activities were addition, multiplication as repeated addition, comparison, sets, arithmetic sequences, geometry, geometric transformations, measurements, and Linear Equations of One Variable. These mathematical concepts can be used as references for developing mathematics learning tools in schools. In this study, the geometric concept of flat shapes in farming activities was chosen as an example of a learning device.
