Abstract
This classroom action research examines the efficacy of incorporating cue cards into a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) framework to foster student interaction and engagement in tenth-grade English classes at SMAN 1 Mataram. Implemented across two cycles, the study utilized observation and document analysis to assess students' participation, argumentation proficiency, and involvement in learning activities. Findings indicate a notable enhancement in student engagement, evidenced by an increase in total activity scores from 158 in Cycle I to 208 in Cycle II, alongside a growth in the percentage of active and highly active students from 27.5% to 45%. The integration of cue cards offered visual support that aided idea formulation and alleviated speaking apprehension, whereas PBL promoted genuine problem-solving and collaborative efforts. In summary, the synergy between cue cards and PBL cultivated a more interactive and student-centric learning milieu, thereby augmenting students' communicative abilities, critical thinking, and involvement in English language instruction.
