Abstract
This study aims to improve student learning outcomes in the IPAS subject by applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by a cultural diversity map media in class V A of Elementary School 25 Pekanbaru. The background of this research is the low student learning outcomes caused by the lack of variation in media and teaching techniques. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques included observation, testing, and documentation, while data analysis used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed that the application of the PBL model assisted by cultural diversity map media could improve student learning outcomes, with the percentage of mastery learning increasing from 60% in the pre-cycle to 73.33% in the first cycle and reaching 96.66% in the second cycle. In addition, the implementation of this model also enhanced students’ activeness, engagement, and collaboration during the learning process. Thus, the PBL model assisted by cultural diversity map media is effective in improving IPAS learning outcomes in fifth-grade students.
