Double-blind peer review is used to evaluate the validity, quality, and, in some cases, originality of articles submitted for publication. Its ultimate goal is to protect scientific integrity by filtering out invalid or low-quality articles.
Peer review serves as a content filter for publishers, directing better quality articles to better quality journals and thus creating journal brands.
