Abstract
The NutriWise Program is a community engagement initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of local nutrition agents through a competitive nationwide selection process. Ten selected nutrition agents from different regions across Indonesia participated in a series of intensive training sessions covering nutrition education, public speaking, communication, project management, and community-based intervention program development. Each participant received mentorship, nutrition education tools, and a mini grant of IDR 500,000 to implement nutrition programs in their respective communities, creating a multiplier effect that extended the program's impact to a broader population. This community service project aimed to: (1) enhance the capacity of nutrition agents through structured training; (2) develop context-specific nutrition intervention programs in 10 regions; and (3) evaluate the effectiveness of the mini-grant approach in fostering sustainable community impact. The program employed a multidisciplinary training approach, continuous mentorship, provision of educational resources, mini grants, and field-based monitoring and evaluation. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants' nutrition knowledge (p = 0.0314), successful implementation of 10 locally tailored nutrition intervention programs, and the delivery of nutrition education to more than 255 beneficiaries across the target regions. These findings suggest that combining capacity building, mentorship, and small-scale funding is an effective strategy for empowering local nutrition agents and promoting sustainable community-based nutrition interventions.
