Abstract
The high incidence of breast cancer indicates the importance of early detection efforts, one of which is through breast self-examination (SADARI). However, health cadres in Tipar Kidul Village have never received SADARI training, so their knowledge and skills in performing and socializing SADARI to the community are still limited. This activity aims to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of health cadres in performing SADARI correctly, as well as to enhance their ability to educate the community. The method of the activity uses an educational and participatory approach that includes a pre-test, delivery of educational material, demonstration and training of SADARI, supervision of independent practice, post-test, and observation of participants' skills in performing SADARI. The results of the activity show an increase in the knowledge and attitudes of health cadres after participating in the training. The average knowledge score increased from 81.3 to 94.8, a rise of 16.6%, while the average attitude score increased from 83.1 to 86.2, a rise of 3.7%. Additionally, participants were able to understand the basic concepts of breast cancer, the importance of early detection, the timing of SADARI, the warning signs of breast cancer, and the correct steps of SADARI. Health cadres also demonstrated better skills in practicing SADARI and were prepared to educate the community. SADARI training has proven to be an effective strategy in enhancing the capacity of health cadres as health promotion agents in the community.
