Author Guidelines

Policies and Procedures: Submitted manuscripts must be in Bahasa Indonesia or in English. Manuscript submitted for publication will be reviewed by two independent reviewers and if necessary repair it must be corrected by the author. If the manuscript is sent is not in accordance with the standards Jurnal PIJAR MIPA will be returned to the author for correction. Some corrections/suggestions from reviewers for each manuscript will be sent to the author before it is accepted/approved for printing. The last manuscript has been corrected author must be returned along with the comments of the reviewer. Some revisions are usually required after review and final acceptance is generally dependent on the results of the revision. In submitting a revised manuscript, authors are asked to submit an explanation of how the revisions were made and the reasons why they did not agree with the correction/suggestion in which the author has not revised. A manuscript is considered withdrawn if the author does not respond within 3 months after the review results are given. The author as the contact person will be notified of the final decision of the editors.

Procedures for Admission: Accepted manuscripts must be submitted online through http://jurnalfkip.unram.ac.id/index.php/JPM/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions. The manuscript is written in Microsoft Word.


Format: Manuscripts, including figures and tables, 1.5 spaces in MS Word format with left and right margins of 20 mm, on 30 mm, and the bottom 25 mm, to be submitted along with the application form through our website as a file attachment. Journals using the metric system, SI units, and the period is centered between the unit (e.g. mg.L-1). All pages including the title page, acknowledgments, references, tables pages should be numbered consecutively. 

Contents Manuscript: The manuscript should be arranged in the following order: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Tables, and Figures. In some cases, Results and Discussion may be combined to make it more effective. A manuscript form of review should be arranged in the following order: Title, Abstract, sub-headings, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, References, Tables, and Figures.

Title: The title should be short and describe the substance of the text. The first letter of all words must be great, except for articles, prepositions, and conjunctions. Use the common name for the species is already known in general. Cultivar name may be used only for comparison or when the characteristics of the cultivars need to be emphasized. Do not use abbreviations except for general terms. Serial title shows a series of related papers are not recommended unless the submissions should be sent together. On the title page, the full name of the individual authors and institutions where the research was conducted, in accordance with a mailing address. Give an asterisk (*) in the contact person for correspondence.

Abstract: Abstract should be written in short paragraphs and containing materials, objectives, main observations, results and conclusions. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words. Use chemical name is followed by the common name in parenthesis when first mentioned, and then later use common names. Abstracts should not contain any undefined abbreviations or references. Add keywords as much as 5-6, which has not been used in the title. Species, common name, chemical name, the term physiological or pathological, and genetic terms can be used as a keyword.

Introduction: The introduction should provide the necessary background information the general reader, complete and concise. Previous publications that provide the basis for the research published must be cited.

Materials and Methods: In the Materials and Methods section, experimental procedures should be explained in detail to be followed by other researchers. This section should be made as short as possible with reference to the procedures that have been issued unless the method used here is a heavily modified. The scientific name of the species and cultivar names used should write although it has been mentioned in the abstract or introduction. The size, number, and the manufacturer of the material should be shown in a common name. Treatment, experimental design, and statistical methods should be described in detail. The method generally is known or analysis can be briefly described by quoting the relevant reference.

Results: The results contain the results given in detail, with tables and figures as needed. The results can be expressed easily in the text should not be administered in the form of tables or figures.

Discussion: The discussion should not contain repetition of the results, but must explain the significance of the findings and conclusions of the author, along with a discussion of any differences/contradictions with the publication / previous reports. Results and discussion can be combined if this merger allows the reader to understand the results of research.

Acknowledgements: acknowledgments section should be as short as possible. Each grant/aid that requires acknowledgments must be mentioned. The names of funding organizations should be written in full. A big thank you to colleagues and associates right professional is allowed, by avoiding thanks to a secretary or family member.

Excerpts library: Bibliography (Literature Cited) written using the Harvard system (name, year, and are arranged alphabetically). If the publication is written by three or more authors, it is written the name of the first author followed by et al. Bibliography contains the author's name, the first name of the author, year of publication and the title of publication, article, or book. For reference in the form of the periodical, followed with the name of the periodical, volume, issue number if the periodical magazine pages always begin with page 1 (one) for each of the issue number, initial and final page of the publication concerned. To book, followed by the name of the editor if any, publisher's name and one of the cities where the issuer is located. For the same authors then cited should be arranged in chronological order (sort of). If there is more than one publication in the same year for the same author, then added the letters a, b, etc. behind the name of prior years. Tables: Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals and designed to fit the width of a single column or full page width. Tables should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order, Each table should have a brief title and, if necessary, a brief statement of the specific methods used. The aim is to avoid a lengthy description. Units must be clearly stated for each entry in the table. Footnotes in the table will appear below the table and should be designated by a lowercase superscript, z, y, x, etc. Each table should be prepared on a separate page.

Aims and Scope

Jurnal PIJAR MIPA merupakan singkatan dari Pengkajian Ilmu dan Pengajaran Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam sehingga fokus dan scope jurnal adalah artikel ilmiah baik berupa artikel atau review artikel hasil penelitian, hasil pengabdian pada masyarakat maupun kajian pustaka khusus bidang pendidikan dan ilmu MIPA:

 1. Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi

2. Kimia dan Pendidikan Kimia

3. Fisika dan Pendidikan Fisika

4. Matematika dan Pendidikan Matematika

5. dan tidak terbatas pada bidang di atas seperti termasuk bidang lingkungan.


Type of paper

Jurnal Pijar MIPA welcomes full research papers, review articles (invitation only) and short communications.  Full research papers should in general about 3000-5000 words (12 printed pages) including figures and tables. A short communication should not exceed 2000 words (4 printed pages) with maximum 3 figures or tables.

Publication fee

Authors should pay a fee of 200.000 IDR per processed paper only if the article is accepted to publish in this journal after peer-review process. There is free APC for author outside Indonesia opportunity, please contact the editor.

Article should be prepare using common word processor software (e.g. Microsoft-Word ®), prepared in English language, type single column in Times New Roman font with size of 12, space of 1.5, page size of A4, left and top margins of 3 cm, right and bottom margin of 2.5 cm.



Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
